It's been a while since we have convened to discuss and plan our next steps in the JP tree movement. With the holidays now behind us, we are refreshed and ready to continue the good work.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 15. We will meet at June Bug Cafe in Hyde Square at 6pm. This meeting is open to all who are interested in actively greening our community. The main topics of discussion will center around spring outreach for the Setback Trees program, and a "No-Cut Commitment Campaign."

If you will not be able to attend and are interested in participating in any of the opportunities below, please contact Rachael (our volunteer coordinator) at earth2rach@gmail.com

• Documenting great trees of Jamaica Plain (photography included) for a book of JP's special trees
• Reaching out to developers and/or homeowners about the benefits of trees and the idea of committing to protecting them
• Writing informational articles and/or flyers for raising awareness about trees
• Creating art that could adorn "protected trees"

In other news, there are a couple updates.

- A JP Trees tree climb will be scheduled by Andrew Joslin (the master of tree climbing) sometime this winter. So stay tuned.

- Also, the BUFC now has a public policy committee, which is great news for the city trees! Their long range goal is "to create and develop management recommendations to the City of Boston that will lead to a comprehensive management plan for Boston’s urban forest."  To read more about BUFC happenings, see the attachment.

We hope to see you Tuesday at June Bug!
